Summit Platforms achieves transport quality standard
The Summit Platforms London Depot has achieved the Bronze accreditation for its transport fleet under the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS).
The FORS scheme, supports fleet operators that set high standards for public safety, business performance and environmental protection.
Independent FORS assessors audited Summit Platforms as part of a rigorous process for achieving the accreditation.
Quick accreditation
Company Director James Watson said: “Opening our London depot in Ockendon was key to Summit Platforms becoming a truly national provider of powered access and tele-handlers.
“A key part of operating in London is to achieve the FORS standard for our transport fleet. We are very proud that we were able to achieve this accreditation in such a short period of time after the opening of our London depot.
“It demonstrates that we set good standards of fleet safety and operational management. It gives our customers assurance about the quality they can expect from our delivery vehicles, drivers and transport systems.
“Achieving the FORS standard is a credit to our operational teams and our highly-skilled drivers, who deliver and collect machines in challenging environments every day.”
Transport quality
Bronze accreditation confirms that an operator employs good transport practices and complies with the requirements laid out by the FORS Standard.
It includes demonstrating dedication to driver and vehicle safety, combined with improving operating practices.
TfL introduced FORS, which has three levels – Bronze, Silver and Gold – to encourage higher standards for vehicles operating in London. It is now recognised as a key fleet performance standard across the UK.
Summit Platforms operates seven hire depots across the UK, including Glasgow, Newcastle Upon Tyne, Birmingham, Portsmouth, Bristol, and Hinkley Point C in Somerset.
It opened its latest depot, East London, in spring 2020, to optimise service delivery to customers across London, large parts of the South-East and East Anglia and to offer its customers a true national coverage.
James Watson said: “Transport is central to us providing a safe, sustainable and customer-focused power access & tele-handler hire service and our aim now is to look to achieving silver FORS accreditation.”
